Overview

MEF International School (MEF IS) is a Reception to Grade 12 co-educational day school located in Izmir.

The school provides a first class English-medium international education, complemented by French, Spanish and Turkish Host Country Studies. The Learning Support Team provides support to students who have minor special learning needs. The programme supports students through ESL, Literacy, Learning Remediation, Enrichment/Extension and Guidance Counselling. MEF IS aims to provide quality international education for the “the whole child.”

The focus in the curriculum is helping children to become enquirers who are enthusiastic about finding out how the world works. The mandate of the school is to promote in children a love of learning, an appreciation of other languages and people, and global understanding to create lifelong learners and global citizens.

It is an international school with 22 plus nationalities with an enrolment of 160 students. All students who attend MEF IS hold a foreign passport. There are over 30 faculty members, of whom nearly 50% hold advanced degrees. The school is fully accredited by the Turkish Ministry of Education to offer educational programmes as an international school in Turkey. The school was fully accredited by both the Council of International SChools (CIS) and New England Association of Schools ands Colleges (NEASC) in January 2019. We are a member of ECIS (The Educational Collaborative for International Schools) and we are a Cambridge International Examinations (CAIE) Centre. The school was founded in  2004. The school was accredited as an IB World School in May 2022, offering the IB Diploma.
