Accreditations
International Baccalaureate
The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
MEF Schools of Turkey is authorized to offer the Diploma Programme since 1998. MEF International Primary School has been authorised to offer the Primary Years Programme since May 2005.
Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE)
Cambridge Assessment International Education offers international qualifications that are recognized by the world’s best universities and employers, giving students a wide range of options in their education and career. The Cambridge curriculum helps students develop a passion for lifelong learning with a well balanced course selection that encourages students to be confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged.
- Cambridge IGCSE and Lower Secondary Checkpoint examinations are marked in Cambridge and provide schools with an external international benchmark for learner performance.
- Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds.
- Cambridge Lower Secondary provides a flexible framework for developing skills and understanding in English as a first or second language, mathematics, science, and global perspectives for learners aged 11 to 14 years.
MEF IS – Istanbul has been authorized since 2006.
CIS (Council of International Schools)
CIS is a leader of school evaluation and accreditation worldwide. The agency provides a unique international accreditation with a focus on student learning and global citizenship.
The accreditation process drives a school’s continuous improvement, through:
- rigorous evaluation against internationally-agreed standards
- a blend of support and challenge, focused on a school’s development
- a peer-based model that brings together international educators from across the world of CIS-Accredited schools
MEF IS – Istanbul has been accredited since 2010.
NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges)
NEASC, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, is a prestigious accreditation body. Accreditation by this agency aids in having our graduate’ diplomas recognized when students apply for American Universities.
The NEASC accreditation process encourages school improvement through a process of continuous Self-Reflection and peer review. The award of NEASC accredited status indicates that the member school has achieved high standards of professional performance and is committed to continuing growth and development.
MEF IS – Istanbul has been accredited since 2010.
ECIS (The Educational Collaborative for International Schools)
ECIS provides services to support professional development, curriculum and instruction, leadership and good governance in international schools around the world. ECIS creates opportunities for education and dialogue, encourages alliances with other organizations, and acts as a catalyst for the advancement of international education. ECIS members and affiliate members serve and support member schools through an ongoing process of professional renewal characterized and facilitated by networking, research, sharing and collegiality.
MEF IS has been a member since 2009.
