Every Thursday afternoon, Ms. Blundon has been holding a Virtual Art Club via Meet. Students in Grades 5-8 gather on Meet to share the artwork they have been making, make artwork together, and chat. See some of the fabulous artwork that was shared last week during our fourth gathering.

Kindergarten B students received certificates for their efforts during remote learning. These little ones have been working so hard. Some of them have completed more than 60 Math, Literacy, and UOI activities altogether.

Library: World Money -- Students learned about different types of world currency, and examined paper money and coins from various countries, including their own country. They explained what the symbols on the money mean and who the people are that appear on the bills. Very educational and intriguing!

Grade 2B have been writing metaphors as part of their Poetry Unit. Here are some brilliant examples!
My bedroom is a view - you can see so many beautiful things.
Recess is a storm - first everyone is quiet then everyone starts screaming.
My friend is a vitamin - he is essential to me and gives me vitality.
My class is an anthill - there's lots of children working hard.
Homework is medicine - I don't want it but I have to.

Grade 4s have been conducting personal inquiries. One student wanted to find out how to design buildings that can withhold an earthquake. She interviewed a civil engineer and learned about tectonic plates and how they move. Here, she experiments with different structures and how they hold up in an earthquake. |

Another grade 4 student wanted to understand the science behind cooking and baking. He was a “risk-taker” as he tried making Humus, something he had never done before. |

Preschool students have been working on measurement. They discussed animals' weight, while they reviewed living things to support their unit of inquiry. |

Grade 2 have been making totems for their UOI: Using signs and symbols to express creativity and communicate perspectives.You can see the animal meanings so you can give it a try at home. |

5th Grade Artists spent the last week exploring the Element of Art - Value by participating in a variety of activities during their Meet sessions with Ms. Blundon and on their own. Some activities included a value scale using clothing, learning to shade shapes with pencil, creating a value landscape painting, and drawing a “worm tunnel” illusion. |

The Secondary School Student Council hosted an online game night for High School students last week. It was a fun evening of drawing and word games. |
|
Teachers are improving learning methods by attending webinars for new online tools in order to implement them into the class. Here Ms. GM used her new knowledge of Parlay to lead a Harkness-like discussion on moral dilemmas with digital hand raises. |

The Grade 8 students had a visit from Ms. Kristi during their English class to discuss teen stress. Their counselor will now be an oral citation source for their expository essays and podcasts. |

Grade 6 students wrote a recipe in Spanish of their best 'confinement cake' and added some pictures to their text. A recipe book will soon be made. |

You are encouraged to contact your child's teachers for Parent-Teacher Google Meet Sessions on May 20-22 to discuss your child's general situation or recent examination results. If you are interested, please contact your child's individual teachers and agree upon a time for a short meeting. |

Walk Days have been set up by the government in order to provide young people with a chance to exercise outdoors. As a result, we will cancel classes during the times listed per age group next week.

In Secondary HCS classes, Middle Schoolers have learned about the importance and meaning of Ramadan through educational videos and fun games. |

Some of our Grade 6 students took the opportunity to view the special screening of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ ballet from the Opera de Paris. This helped students brush up on their knowledge of the play while watching the story in a different art form. |
