As you will know the devastating fires that hit Australia have killed many people, destroyed more than 1,500 homes, and it is estimated that around 480 million animals have been killed in the wildfires, including 8,000 koalas. To raise awareness of this devastation MEF IS Primary School will be creating a land art heart in the MEF playground which will be photographed and sent to the Australian Embassy here in Istanbul. Please could we remind students to come to school dressed in red next Wednesday in preparation for this? |

Procrastination affects many people - children and adults alike. In a TED Talk, Tim Urban discusses how we all struggle to keep a balance between our rational decision making and desire for instant gratification. Examples of ways to overcome procrastination include forcing yourself to stay focused for limited amounts of time on a singular task. To help students, we can have them focus for a specific amount of time followed by something to look forward to if completed successfully, which is known as the Premack Principle. |
